The Algona Girls swim team traveled to Spencer on Monday for a double duel with Spence and Storm Lake. They split losing to Spencer 78-16 and beat Storm Lake 51-43. It was a good night for the girls said Coach Fisher.
Against Spencer, Megan Hauswirth took 1st overall in the 500 free. The 400 Free relay team of Hanna Degen, Jenni Weaver, Megan Hauswirth and Beth Hersom took 2nd overall. There were several races the Bulldogs were in a tight race for 2nd and came up just short.
Against Storm Lake, first place finishers were Katie Hedinger in the 100 fly and 200 I.M., Megan Hauswirth in the 100 back, Beth Hersom in the 100 free the 200 med relay and 400 free relay teams. 2nd places went to Paige Walker in the 200 free, Becca Kramer in the 200 I.M., Hanna Degen in the 50 free and the 200 free relay team of Degen, Kent, Weaver and Hersom. Deb Weideman and Missy Zadow both had personal best Monday in their races. This victory gives the girls a school record for wins in a season.
Next up the girls travel to Perry on Monday, October 15th to swim against Perry and Carroll.
