The Algona Girls Swim Team traveled to Perry last night for a double duel with Carroll and Perry. The Girls split the evening losing to Carroll 73-22 but beating Perry 66-25. Overall the girls had a good night according to coach Jim Fisher. They swam well against Carroll and dominated Perry. Against Perry, the Bulldogs double pointed in every event we had an entry in except one. Against Carroll Algona wanted to score at least 20 points, and they did says Fisher.
Top finishers on the night were Megan Hauswirth 1st in the 200 I.M.and 2nds to Katie Hedinger (100 Fly), Beth Hersom( 100 Free) and Megan Hauswirth ( 100 Back). Against Perry 1st went to the 200 Medley, 200 Free and 400 Free Relays. Individual 1st went to Paige Walker (200 Free),Hanna Degen (50 Free) with 2nd to Deb Weideman ( 100, 200 Free), Katie Hedinger ( 200 I.M. Becca Kent ( 50 Free), and Becca Kramer ( 100 Breast) and the 400 relay team. 3rd went to The 200 Medley Relay team, Jenni Weaver(100 Fly, Missy Zadow( 100 Breast) and Paige Walker (100 back).
The Bulldogs had some girls taking time off their times in Perry, especially Deb Weidemann who took of 2 seconds each time she swam. The Team finished up the season with 4 total wins on the season and a 3rd place finish at the Polar Bear Invitational. The team swims at Regionals in Fort Dodge on October 27th.
